Who we are
CHOBMAISILK is the international shop of Chobmai Co., Ltd., a silk company based in Surin province in north-eastern Thailand. At home we trade as Chobmai Silk. This site carries the part of our range that is sold by the length, for suiting, jackets, dresses and interiors, with prices in US dollars.
Every fabric here is 100% silk, and every order is cut for you in one continuous length.
Where the silk comes from
We work with silk-producing communities and small producers across Thailand, and we stay close to the whole chain: raising the silkworms, reeling the yarn, weaving the cloth and tailoring it. Our production arm, the Chobmai community enterprise, works with that network, checks quality and holds production to a standard, so that local skills keep their value and carry on.
Why Chobmai began
I grew up in Surin, where wearing silk is part of everyday life. In my community, raising silkworms and weaving silk is a tradition handed down from one generation to the next, and the weavers put real care into every step to make cloth of quality. Chobmai began there, to give them more ways to sell their work. Bringing information technology to silk weaving is one more way to support the community and the people who make their living from it.

The Chobmai group
- Chobmai Community Enterprise makes the silk, together with a network of producer communities, and looks after quality and production standards.
- Chobmai Co., Ltd. sells to customers online under the Chobmai Silk brand, in Thailand and abroad.
- Changwad Co., Ltd. develops machinery and production methods for the silk industry, and supplies businesses such as fashion brands, hotels and resorts that need premium silk in quantity.
